Blueberry-Raspberry Applesauce

Friday, March 20, 2015

For dinner Hendrix had sweet potato zucchini "crumbs", taco meat with cheese and lettuce. I also gave him blueberry raspberry applesauce which is one of his favorite foods. Since he was 6 months he has been obsessed with applesauce. Instead of having the same plain cinnamon applesauce I chose to get a little more creative with it.

Blueberry Raspberry Applesauce
1 apple, peeled and chopped
Handful of blueberries
Handful of raspberries
Dash of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

I don't always peel his apples because eventually he will be eating the peel. Steam or boil chopped apples until cooked through. Add apples, raspberries, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg to a blender and purée.

Chunky applesauce- add ingredients to a bowl and use a potato masher to get a chunkier consistency.

*I have been giving applesauce since Hendrix was 6 months. I started flavoring it with different types of berries around 7 months.

*Some other fruits we love adding to applesauce: peachs, pears, mangos, blackberries, and strawberries
