Smoothie Love

Smoothies are quickly becoming a favorite in our family. We blend our smoothies with fruits and sometimes vegetables. Recently I bought chia seeds which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, loaded with antioxidants and high in quality protein. I found these chia seeds at Target.

When making smoothies you can use fresh fruit, frozen fruit, vegetables, yogurt, milk (whole, almond, coconut), or ice.

Some of our favorite smoothie recipes:

Tropical Paradise
Frozen handful of pineapple
Frozen handful of mango
Sprinkle of chia seeds
3 tbsp whole milk

Blend ingredients together and enjoy!

Peanut Butter Joy
1 tsp peanut butter
2 whole milk yogurt
Sprinkle of chia seeds
Frozen handful of banana
Frozen peaches

Blend ingredients together and enjoy!

Sweet Yumminess
Fresh handful of peaches
Fresh handful of raspberries
2 tbsp whole milk yogurt

Blend ingredients together and enjoy!

*If my smoothies are too thick, I add more water or milk to make it a thinner consistency. Hendrix enjoys drinking smoothies from a cup, with my help, but if I put it into a sippy cup I will make them a very thin consistency.

*I've also served smoothies thick in a bowl as a "smoothie bowl" with chunks of fruit mixed in. I'll offer preloaded spoons or I will spoon feed him. He loves smoothie bowls!

*Great for babies who are used to having fruits, vegetables, yogurt or milk.
