Hendrix Nautical 1st Birthday!!

Thursday, June 25, 2015

It's been a busy few weeks planning and decorating for Hendrix birthday party. Once he turned 11 months I started doing DIY projects because I don't like being stressed, which tends to happen when I leave things till the last minute. I literally feel like I gave birth to Hendrix 2 months ago. It makes me happy that he is growing and thriving but it makes me so sad that it's all happening so quickly!

UnfortunateIy I completely forgot to take pictures before the party started so I only took pictures when the house was packed with people and it seems I didn't get too many quality shots. After looking through pictures I realized I should have centered the food table but the way I had it gave us more room to hangout.

Party Food:
Crab Cake Sliders with Garlic Aioli
Cheeseburger/Hamburger Sliders
Balsamic Vinegar Macaroni Salad
Veggie/Cracker Platter with Spinach Dip and Roasted Garlic Hummus
Strawberry Blueberry Infused Water with Blueberry Ice Cubes

Napkin Rolls:
Napkins, jute rope, lifesavers and plastic silver cutlery from the dollar store.

Decorations:
Light anchor was found on sale at Target.
Star banner is from the dollar store.
Nautical tablecloth is from HomeGoods.
1-12 Month Banner I printed the pictures out at Walgreens, the jute rope is from the dollar store and the precut stars are from Michaels.
Birthday crown was $1 from Michaels and I hot glued pieces I had found at Michaels. Hendrix hates hats so he wore it for a short time and tore it apart.

Party Favors:
$1 frames found in the dollar section at Michaels. Painted them red white and blue. Printed pictures at Walgreens and taped them onto the frame. Found magnets at Michaels that I hot glued onto the frame. Easy DIY picture frame for family members.

I didn't want to spend a ton of money on Hendrix first birthday since he will not remember it. We still wanted it to be cute for pictures which last forever and for all of the family members that traveled to Florida to help us celebrate. He had a very large, sugary, store bought piece of cake which my husband insisted we get. My husband has been so supportive with everything I do with Hendrix so I figured I'd do the same and let Hendrix have sugary cake. Everything in moderation! It was definitely a successful birthday party and I have no complaints. Everything went smooth and Hendrix seemed to have a very fun time. I cannot believe my baby is 1!!
