Apple Pie Sticks

Apple Pie Filling:
2 tablespoons butter
4 apples, peeled and diced
1 teaspoon flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Pillsbury crescent dough sheet

Topping:
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar of choice

*Melt butter in large frying pan. Add diced apple. Stir until apples are coated in butter. Sprinkle with flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix thoroughly. Cook until apples are tender, about 10 minutes.

*Blend apple mixture to desired consistency. I completely puréed mine.

*Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out dough sheet on baking sheet. Spread Apple mixture on half of dough sheet. (I only used half the filling and saved the other have for the Apple Pie Scones). Fold other side of dough over mixture.

*Freeze for 15-30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350F.

*Using a pizza cutter, slice into desired size sticks. In a bowl mix together egg, nutmeg and cinnamon. Spread on apple sticks. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Apple Pie Scones

1 cup Apple Pie filling (from above recipe)
2 cups+ flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon milk
1 teaspoon baking powder

*Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mix together apple pie filling, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg. Slowly add flour, 1/4 cup at a time. Knead dough while adding flour until you have a dough ball.

*Use a rolling pin to flatten dough about 1/4"-1/2" thick. Use cookie cutters to cut desired shape. Arrange on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

*These were delicious warmed with homemade strawberry/cranberry jam!
